NRF Dates Set for 2014

Group agrees to certain concessions to keep Javits event

The National Retail Federation’s annual event, The Big Show, will go forward as scheduled in 2014 and 2015.

There had been speculation last week that NRF might have to reschedule or move the event after the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York said it was giving NRF’s January dates to a boat show. New York governor Andrew Cuomo said the boat industry needed a shot in the arm after Hurricane Sandy.

NRF’s dates are Jan. 12-15, 2014, and Jan. 11-14, 2015.

The NRF was reportedly able to keep its original dates by agreeing to take one fewer day to dismantling the event and by agreeing to pay overtime wages to the crews that will have to take it down in less time.

Though the event is four days, NRF normally books the Javits Center for nine days for set-up and take-down.
