Old Navy (San Francisco) has named Sarah Holme as vp of women’s design.

The announcement comes as the retailer, a division of Gap Inc. (San Francisco), opened its first store in China this past weekend, part of its attempt to develop “a global collection.” The store, in Shanghai, will be the first of five the retailer plans to open in China this year.

Old Navy has also launched a dedicated e-commerce site for China and plans to launch a franchise business in the Philippines this spring.

Holme had been creative director of Jack Wills, the London-based clothing brand with 69 of its own stores, where she was said to be instrumental in bringing the brand to Asia and the U.S. She has also worked at Laura Ashley and Abercrombie & Fitch.
