When Central Food Retail Co., owner of the largest grocery chain in Thailand, sought to elevate its Central Food Hall Ladprao (Bangkok) into a fusion of inspiring food hall and world-class international supermarket, it turned to Interstore | Schweitzer for the redesign.

The new concept for the 14,000-square-foot space included architecture, layout, design and in-store communication. A series of private label brands was developed to offer local connoisseurs a tailored product assortment supported by the in-house expertise of resident product ambassadors. Fresh food departments like an Austrian bakery and German butcher shop are individually branded and counters were partially eliminated to break down barriers between the customer and staff.

The Central Eatery, located in the middle of the fresh food departments, serves up retail theater with open show kitchens that are the heart of the food hall.
