Orlando Mall Nearing Completion

Developers of the new Mall at Millenia (Orlando, Fla.) have announced that 119 tenants are now on site and under construction, including the market's first Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's and Macy's. The 1.2 million-square-foot super-regional center is due to open on Oct. 18, 2002.

Among the other tenants in this “largest retail construction project to date in the City of Orlando” (according to Orlando director of permitting Ken Wagner) are Adrienne Vittadini, American Eagle, Ann Taylor, Anthropologie, Arden B., Apple Computer, Banana Republic, Bath & Body Works, Brookstone, Burberry, Cartier, Chanel, Coach, Cole-Haan, Crate & Barrel, Discovery Channel, Everything But Water, Express and Express for Men, Gap, Baby Gap, Gap Body, Gap Kids, Giorgio's of Palm Beach, Godiva, Guess, Gucci, Hugo Boss, J. Jill, Lacoste, Louis Vuitton, Nine West, Oilily, Pottery Barn Kids, Sharper Image, Swarovski, Talbots, Tiffany's, Victoria's Secret, Wet Seal, Williams-Sonoma and Z Gallerie.

The developers say the construction plans will include reveal an array of design details, building materials, finishes and fixtures. Unusual flooring designs include a lipstick red carpet (Lancel); jewel-embedded floors (Rocks Fine Jewelry); bamboo wood (The Body Shop) and an epoxy floor depicting a smoothie (Fruit Sensations). Storefronts and entryways range from brick (Coach, Rampage) to limestone (Louis Vuitton and Hugo Boss) to granite (Na Hoku).

Store ceilings systems include fabric (Apple Computer) and tongue and groove pinewood (Crate & Barrel). Giorgio's of Palm Beach's one dozen Swarovski chandeliers, Finish Line's giant basketball hoop above its cashwrap and Tommy Bahama's feng shui-inspired store layout.

The developers are The Forbes Co. (Southfield, Mich.) and Taubman Centers Inc. (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.).
