Panasonic Opens Photo Lounge

Aims to create hang-out for photography enthusiasts

Panasonic Consumer Electronics (Newark, N.J.) unveiled a new retail concept yesterday, its first LUMIX Lounge, a store within a store at the 50,000-square-foot Unique Photo superstore in Fairfield, N.J. Calling it “a lifestyle retail outlet,” Panasonic said in a statement that the LUMIX Lounge will allow consumers to handle cameras and other photo/video equipment in a bricks-and-mortar setting. Other products featured in the 750-square-foot lounge are headphones, portable audio, mobile power and Smartphone Bluetooth connected home solutions. LUMIX Lounge also features a coffee bar. Via social media, Panasonic is promoting the space as a setting for photography enthusiasts to congregate. Panasonic has not announced  expansion plans for the concept.
