Christopher & Banks Corp. (Minneapolis) has completed the acquisition of Acorn Stores, a nine-state, 21-unit women’s fashion chain, from Gilmore Brothers Inc. (Kalamazoo, Mich.).

The total cash purchase price was approximately $7 million.

“We are pleased to have completed the Acorn transaction quickly and smoothly,” said Christopher & Banks chairman and ceo Bill Prange. “Acorn provides us a differentiated yet complementary third retail concept, which will enhance our strategic growth plans by allowing us to reach a more upscale customer demographic.”

With the acquisition, Christopher & Banks will operate 634 women's specialty stores in 44 states under the names: Christopher & Banks, C.J. Banks and, now, Acorn.
