Plac Coming to U.S. Market

Popular South Korean retailer Plac will open its first U.S. store in New York this fall, a 1300-square-foot unit at Crosby and Grand Streets.

Although Plac sells both men’s and women’s fashions, the company plans to focus on menswear for its U.S. launch. The brand will be hosting its first menswear show during New York Fashion Week, as well.

Plac was founded in 2009 as a denim brand, and has since grown into a full lifestyle line with more than $42 million in sales and 75 of its own stores in South Korea, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

Plac is currently sold at about 25 U.S. retailers, including Saks Fifth Avenue and Odin. The company hopes to open five or six stores in the U.S. and is eying Los Angeles, Chicago and Miami, reports WWD.
