Primark Coming to the U.S.

Primark, the retail division of Associated British Foods plc (London), will open its first U.S. store in Boston next year, according to Women's Wear Daily

Primark signed a lease for 70,000 square feet of selling space in the historic Burnham Building — which is currently being renovated — at Downtown Crossing in the heart of Boston. The site was previously home to a Filene’s department store.

Negotiations are under way to open more Primark locations in the northeast over the next two years. The U.S. stores will be supported by warehousing in the region.

The value-conscious fashion retailer has a strong consumer following in nine countries in Western Europe.
