Shinola, the 107-year-old shoe polish brand now enjoying a revival as a brand of watches and other items, will be expanding its retail presence in 2014.

The Detroit-based company, which currently has stores in Detroit and New York, plans three more in the U.S. next year, reported MediaPost.com. The U.S. sites will be in Washington, D.C., Minneapolis and Chicago, and the company is also planning on opening in London and Berlin, according to ceo Stephen Bock.

Currently, the brand’s overseas outlets are Collette in Paris and Robinsons in Singapore. It also has distribution deals through Nieman Marcus, Saks Fifth Ave., Nordstrom and Barneys New York.

Shinola/Detroit LLC, a unit of Bedrock Manufacturing Co. (Plano, Texas), bought the Shinola name from the company that dominated the shoe polish business from 1907-1960, and set up a facility in Detroit to make watches, bicycles and leather goods.
