Starbucks Closing La Boulange Bakeries

Starbucks (Seattle) announced it is closing all of the La Boulange bakeries the company acquired in 2013.  After the original purchase, the coffee retailer began offering the French-style bakery’s pastries throughout its own retail stores, which featured them in prominent pink paper bags.

There are 23 La Boulange throughout San Francisco’s Bay Area that will be closed in September. The company has stated it will help the bakery’s employees find new jobs, as nearly 800 employees will be affected by the closures.

There are no plans to convert the bakeries into Starbucks cafés, reports Seattle Times
