7-Eleven Inc. (Dallas) reported that its December 2003 sales totaled $901 million, a 6.7 percent increase over a year earlier.

The convenience-store chain said total merchandise sales for December 2003 were $623.1 million, up 5.4 percent over a year earlier, and that its U.S. same-store merchandise sales for the recently completed month rose 4.5 percent. The company estimates that its sales were positively affected by roughly 0.5 percent due to the continued grocery-store strikes in Southern California.

7-Eleven operates or franchises approximately 5800 stores in the U.S. and Canada and licenses about 19,500 7-Eleven stores in 17 countries and territories throughout the world.
