Popular and famously charitable footwear manufacturer Toms (Santa Monica, Calif.) and Target (Minneapolis) are partnering for a holiday charity promotion, “Toms for Target.”
Toms is known for its practice of donating a pair of shoes for a child in need for every pair of shoes it sells. Blake Mycoskie, Toms founder and, Kathee Tesija, executive vice president and chief merchandising and supply-chain officer at Target, made the announcement earlier this week at Target’s annual meeting, according to Women's Wear Daily.
In addition to footwear donations, for every piece of Toms for Target apparel, accessories, shoes or home-goods sold, Target will donate a blanket to the American Red Cross or Canadian Red Cross, or one week of meals through Feeding America or Food Banks Canada. Target predicts that it will donate more than 11 million meals, blankets and shoes.
More than 50 items, each retailing under $50 make up the Toms for Target collection. The collection will be merchandised at all U.S. and Canadian Target stores and on target.com, beginning Nov. 16.
