Tesco to Try Small Format in U.S.

Tesco PLC (London) is bringing smaller-format stores in the U.S., a company spokesman told The Wall Street Journal.

While the grocer’s stores average 10,000 square feet, the new smaller test stores – under the banner Fresh & Easy Express – will be closer to 3000 square feet.

The first location is expected to open in Southern California.

Tesco, which launched here in 2007, operates around 175 stores in the U.S.
