Plans for new stores abound

Donna Karan (New York) announced it would open a 1900-square-foot Collection store at the South Coast Plaza shopping mall, in Costa Mesa, Calif.

Slated to open next March, the store will be the first of its kind in California, and only the second in the U.S. – the other is located in Manhasset, N.Y.

Europe, Asia and the Middle East are home to 14 of the freestanding Collection stores today, and the company plans to continue expanding the business in the U.S., with another flagship opening on New York's Madison Ave. in spring. Beverly Hills, San Francisco and Chicago locations are also in the works.

The new Costa Mesa store will offer Donna Karan New York for women, as well as beauty products and home goods.
