Van Cleef & Arpels Renovates New York Flagship

Art deco expansion features lighter interior, mezzanine level

Van Cleef & Arpels, the French luxury jeweler, has completed the renovation and expansion of its New York flagship on Fifth Avenue at 57th Street.

The expansion doubles the size of the space to 6000 square feet and has created a lighter, brighter feel through larger windows and lighter color scheme, compared with its previous dark wood interior.

Women’s Wear Daily reports that the retailer has added a mezzanine with a library, VIP room and bridal area and turned the second floor into a space for events and lectures.

The redesign by designer Patrick Jouin and architect Sanjit Manku, who created interiors for the company’s maisons in Paris at the Place Vendôme and Hong Kong at Landmark Prince’s, was inspired by art deco. Volumes in the library rchive all transactions since Van Cleef & Arpels arrived in the U.S. in 1939.
