Rethinks retail strategy

Véronique Leroy (Paris) announced she will close her 430-square-foot boutique at 10 Rue d’Alger in Paris March 30 after receiving, what the fashion designer called, “an offer she would have been crazy to refuse.”

“I had been thinking about moving to an area with more energy anyway, having spent 10 years where I am now,” the designer wrote in a letter to her small but loyal clientele, reports Women’s Wear Daily. She noted that although the store had been profitable, sales had been stagnant the past two years.

Leroy said she’s considering moving to the city’s Le Marais district or setting up a pop-up to continue her retail business. She also expressed an interest in boosting her presence in other countries, including the U.S.
