Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.) announced its intention to lay off 29 of its 56 employees at its New York office, which handles e-commerce functions as well as the Allswell mattress brand, Business Insider reports.

Allswell mattresses and bedding will continue to be available for purchase at Walmart and Sam’s Club and on the Allswell website.

Walmart confirmed that these layoffs are a product of the company’s strategy to incubate niche brands with the intent to fold them into the larger company once they have grown.

The company also recently announced 200 layoffs at its digital brand Hayneedle, which it intends to absorb into Walmart.com.

"We're integrating many of these brands as private brands within Walmart as we continue to deepen our category expertise and strengthen our ability to offer customers a larger range of products," said a Walmart spokesperson, reports Business Insider.
