Walmart Offers Pick-up Discount

Walmart (Bentonville, Ark.) will be offering discounts on more than 10,000 items that it offers on its website when customers pick them up in-store.

According to Yahoo! Finance, the company will begin offering its “Pickup Discount” on April 19 as a way to compete with Amazon.com (Seattle). The program will begin cutting prices on about 10,000 items, but expects to expand that discount to more than a million items by the end of June.

Marc Lore, head of Walmart’s e-commerce business explained, “Quite simply, it costs less for us to ship to stores. So, our customers should share in those savings.”

The company also announced that it's cutting hundreds of corporate jobs, which, according to Fox Business, will affect the retailer’s international business and technology group, as well as its Sam’s Club chain.
