The retailer plans to open in-store shops over the next two years

Walmart Stores (Bentonville, Ark.) will open FedEx (Memphis, Tenn.) shops in 500 of its U.S. stores over the next two years. The stores will offer printing, packing and shipping services for customers and other businesses and will range in size from about 450 to 750 square feet.

"Our busy customers view our stores as a one-stop-shop for all the products and services they are looking for," said Daniel Eckert, Senior VP of Walmart Services and Digital Acceleration.

Walmart stores often already offer services such as vision centers, pharmacy and grocery pickup towers for online orders. The retailer found that customers expressed interest in these additional printing and shipping services.

The company has tested the arrangement in a pilot program in about 50 locations throughout the country and it has proved successful, according to CNBC. The retailer found that after visiting the FedEx shop, customers would often shop elsewhere in Walmart, thus boosting its foot traffic.
