Amazon May Open Convenience Stores

Considering curbside grocery pickup

Published

on

Amazon (Seattle) is considering launching convenience stores, some of which may offer curbside pickup. While the company has not officially announced the news, sources told The Wall Street Journal that the company hopes to build brick-and-mortar locations where customers can purchase produce, milk, meat and other perishables. Customers will also be able to order other nonperishable products (such as peanut butter or cereal) for same-day delivery while at the store.

Some locations will offer curbside pickup, which will be facilitated with license plate-reading technology to improve wait times.

While the stores have not been finalized, if the company does move forward to open any, they likely will not debut for another year or more while it scouts locations and hammers out details.
