The Carolinas of Europe

Carolina Herrera (New York) has kicked off a retail blitz inEurope with store openings of CH Carolina Herrera, its discountedclothing line, in Spain and Portugal. The clothing retailer has plansto open 40 more locations around Europe in the next two years.

In March, Herrera opened a 4300-square-foot CH Carolina Herreralocation on Calle Serrano in Madrid, one of the capital's mostshop-heavy venues. The two-level store features a bronze facade, darkwood flooring, and chocolate brown and black armchairs. Oversizedlampshades hang from the ceiling, while floor-to-ceiling tiltedmirrors line the walls.

At the same time, two CH Carolina Herrera stores opened in Lisbonand Oporto, Portugal. Fifteen stores and vendor shops are scheduledto open in Barcelona, Valencia and Bilbao, Spain, by the end ofSeptember.

CH Carolina Herrera is a newly launched venture with clothingpriced 30 percent less than Carolina Herrera's high-end collection.
