Scoop NYC Closing All Stores

Shuttering due to high rent, oversized stores

Scoop NYC (New York) is closing all of its stores. The retailer closed its New York SoHo flagship and has discounted merchandise at its remaining 15 stores throughout the country, with the expectation that merchandise at those stores should be sold out within eight to 12 weeks.

According to Women’s Wear Daily, part of the reason for the chain’s closures is due to high rents and stores larger than necessary that have made the stores not profitable enough to continue to keep open. Previously the retailer had explored the possibility of selling the chain.
