Fred Segal (Santa Monica, Calif.) is opening its first Tokyo store as the retailer begins its overseas expansion.

The 10,000-square-foot shopping center features a food market, men’s and women’s boutiques covered in fragrant cedar beams, and plenty of landscaped outdoor spaces for shoppers to relax, according to Women’s Wear Daily.

Fred Segal’s Japanese investment partner, MFS Japan, is tentatively planning to open an even-bigger unit in Yokohama, Japan, in February. Paul Blum, ceo of Fred Segal, said the retailer could see as many as five locations in Japan over the next five years.

The company said the Tokyo store could become a model for units in other markets.
