Domino's Pizza (Ann Arbor, Mich.) has entered into a master franchise agreement with the founder of Grand City Property Group and Grand City Hotels to bring its delivery pizza chain to Germany. The first locations will open in Berlin, and eventually spread throughout the country.

Domino’s partner, Yakir Gabay, is the founder of the Berlin-based hotel and property companies and manages more than 3000 residential units and 1 million square feet of commercial property in Germany, and more than 80 hotels.

“Establishing ourselves in the German market presents a great opportunity for our business,” says Michael Lawton, executive vp, Domino's Pizza Intl. “I’m confident that Mr. Gabay’s knowledge of multi-unit development and operational excellence in this market are two things that will be critical to the success of our brand.”

Birgir Thor Bieltvedt, principal shareholder and former ceo of Domino's Pizza in Iceland and Denmark, will serve as ceo of the new Master Franchise.

Founded in 1960, Domino's Pizza operates a network of 9036 franchised and company-owned stores in the U.S. and over 60 international markets.
