Still Many Opportunities in Retail: Target Ceo

In an interview with the Associated Press, Target (Minneapolis) CEO Brian Cornell expressed his optimism in the state of the retail industry, reports ABC News.

The executive cited Target’s new brand offerings and reimagined stores in new neighborhoods as the mass merchant’s strategy to provide more value for guests, as well as remain competitive during the holiday shopping season.

The big-box retailer’s strategy to compete for market share, said Cornell, is newly added in-store experts in its beauty, apparel and food and beverage departments. “We have someone there that can help you, who understands the category, that’s there to assist you and make a decision,” he said.

Cornell said the retailer has been seeing an increase in store traffic as well as growth in its e-commerce business, a sign that consumer confidence is high.
