Barneys Launches iPad App

Features include personal shopper scheduling

Barneys New York (New York) launched its iPad app last week with the goal of creating, according to a company statement, a way for customers to “both shop and engage” with the upscale retailer. The app integrates the shopping functionality of Barneys.com with exclusive content. The app also includes a personal shopper scheduling tool. The mobile scheduler allows users to book a consultation with a Barneys personal shopper, as well as the ability to work in advance on preferences and shopping needs. This feature will launch first for the Madison Avenue flagship store and roll out over the next year to other Barneys retail stores.

The new app also incorporates shoppable content from “The Window,” the Barneys.com editorial site, which is updated daily with original content, including interviews with designers, trend stories, beauty features and behind-the-scenes looks at the Barney’s team. The app content will also highlight the brand’s dynamic and artistic Madison Ave. windows, key advertising and marketing campaigns and exclusive brand launches. Barneys operates flagship stores in New York, Beverly Hills, Calif., Chicago, Seattle, Boston, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Scottsdale, Ariz.
