Bloomingdale’s Names Visual Promotions

Smith appointed to vp of visual merchandising

Bloomingdale’s (New York) has promoted Eleanor Smith to vp, visual merchandising.
Smith, who was previously vp, director of stores visual, will continue to report to Jack Hruska, executive vp, creative services.

After graduating from of Fashion Institute of Technology, with a degree in display and design, Smith joined the department store in 1983 as an associate in the display department in Bergen County, N.J. She has moved steadily up the ranks, serving such posts as visual manager of the Stamford, Conn. store, design coordinator for the 59th Street store, manager of visual merchandising in White Plains, and assistant visual director for stores. In 2001, Smith was promoted to operating vp and in 2007 was named vp.

Bloomingdale’s also announced that John Klimkowski, regional merchandising manager for California and the Midwest, has been promoted to operating vp, creative director, visual merchandising. He will report to Smith.
 

Prior to joining Bloomingdale’s in 1992, Klimkowski was a visual manager for Dayton Hudson. He has held several positions at Bloomingdale’s, including visual manager positions throughout the Midwest and regional visual manager for the Metro stores.
