Bon-Ton to Close Centerville Store

Elder-Beerman location to shutter doors by January 2011

The Bon-Ton Stores Inc. (New York) will close a 191,000 square foot Elder-Beerman store in Centerville, Ohio.

Bud Bergren, president and ceo, says the company continually reviews the performance of its assets. “As a result of a review of the Centerville location and its proximity to our Dayton Mall store, we made the decision to close this location,” he says.

The Bon-Ton Stores operates 278 stores, including 11 furniture galleries, in 23 states in the Northeast, Midwest and upper Great Plains under the Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers nameplates and, in the Detroit area under the Parisian nameplate.
