Books-A-Million Inc. (Birmingham, Ala.) plans to open 41 new stores in November, some of them in former Borders locations.

The bookseller, which recently closed 21 underperforming stores, operates 210 remaining locations. The new Books-A-Million stores will mostly be in smaller or medium-sized cities, including Ames, Iowa and York, Pa.

“Our expansion into these markets represents a substantial opportunity for our company,” says Terrance Finley, the company’s president and ceo, in an Associated Press article.
