Company will keep at least 17 Gander Mountain stores open

Gander Mountain (St. Paul, Minn.), which recently declared bankruptcy, has been bought at auction. Camping World Holdings (Bowling Green, Ky.) was selected as the winning bid for certain assets of Gander Mountain and its Overton’s boating business, reports Chain Store Age. It also won all of Gander Mountain’s intellectual property.

As a part of the deal, Camping World will continue to run 17 Gander Mountain stores, though the company may keep as many as 70 open, depending on whether it can renegotiate some leases with landlords. Gander Mountain currently operates 160 stores total.

Camping World beat out a bid from Sportsman’s Warehouse (Midvale, Utah) for the acquisition.
