Children’s Place to Enter Middle East

Saudi Arabia and Dubai among first to get stores by end of 2012

Secaucus, N.J.-based The Children's Place Retail Stores Inc. has signed a 10-year franchise agreement with Fawaz A. AlHokair & Co. SJSC (Saudi Arabia) to open stores across Saudi Arabia. The first two stores are scheduled to open during the second quarter of 2012.

The children's specialty apparel retailer has also entered into a franchise agreement with Apparel Group to open stores in the Arab Gulf States of United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman. The first stores are scheduled to open in Dubai and Sharjah this September.

“We are very excited to begin our international expansion beyond North America with a number of stores opening in Saudi Arabia this year,” says Jane Elfers, president and ceo of The Children's Place. “The Middle East retail landscape is very well developed and has high potential for our brand.”

The Children's Place operates 1062 stores across North America.
