The Talbots Inc. (Hingham, Mass.) has named Chris Jackson senior vp of apparel, design, and development of the Talbots brand, responsible for the concept and design of all apparel under the label, including its core misses, petites and women’s lines.

Jackson was most recently senior vp of design for the Calvin Klein bridge and better sportswear collections and spent nine years as design director for DKNY’s women’s collections. He has also held design positions at Anne Klein, French Connection and Nautica.

Jackson will be based in Talbots’ New York creative studio, reporting to Michael Smaldone, chief creative officer of the Talbots brand.

“Chris’ appointment reinforces our strategy to become a design-led organization, focused on delivering compelling merchandise assortments that build on the classic heritage of the brand,” said president and ceo Trudy Sullivan. “We are delighted to welcome such a strong design talent, as Chris’ extensive experience both at Calvin Klein and Donna Karan will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen the Talbots product and reinvigorate the brand image.”
