Claire’s Reports Strong Same-store Sales

Success attributed to new stores, increased shipments

Accessories chain Claire’s Stores Inc. (Hoffman Estates, Ill.) reported net sales increased 1.6 percent for its fiscal 2011 first quarter. In North America, same-store sales grew 4.8 percent, while in Europe same-store sales were up [try to vary the verb choice in these] 0.1 percent.

These increases came from new store sales, more shipments to franchisees and favorable foreign currency translation, according to a press release from Claire's Stores Inc.

Owned by parent company Apollo Management L.P. (New York), Claire's Inc. operates more than 3000 Claire’s and Icing brand stores in the U.S. and Europe.
