Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is joining the growing ranks of airports energizing their image with new restaurants and retail. Hudson News, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Travelex and Zoom Systems (teaming up with Best Buy to provide two vending machines supplied with Best Buy products) are opening this week in the facility’s Airmall. When completed, the new shopping area will cover 76,000 square feet. Airport officials forecast that the mall will double the airport’s retail sales figures over a 10-year period.

“With the opening of each new retail unit, restaurant or service, passengers will have access to what they’re looking for when they travel,” said Rickey Smith, director of Cleveland Hopkins International Airport in a corporate statement. BAA Cleveland, developer of the Airmall, has a 10-year contract to develop and manage concessions at the airport.
