CompUSA launches smaller-concept stores

Published

on

CompUSA Inc. (Dallas) has opened two Cozone stores in northern Virginia, part of a new store concept that began in June with a store opening in San Diego.

The new Cozone design features 6000 to 7000 square feet of retail space, wood-like flooring, more intimate lighting and a large interactive plasma screen as a focal point for customers. The new locations, in Arlington and Reston, offer mobile products from manufacturers such as Sony, Palm, Sprint PCS and AOL. Each store has an electronic kiosk and an Internet cafŽ, so customers can check e-mail and surf the web.

“We believe our new Cozone stores are an attractive alternative to our bigger Computer Superstores,” said Hal Compton, CompUSA president and ceo. “The new design and format will appeal to the customer seeking high-technology mobile products.”

CompUSA Inc. currently operates 218 CompUSA Computer Superstores across the U.S.
