Dollar General (Goodlettsville, Tenn.) is buying 323 small discount stores that are currently being operated as Family Dollar (Matthews, N.C.) stores.

The stores were acquired less than two years ago by equity firm Sycamore Partners (New York) during the Dollar Tree-Family Dollar merger to meet federal antitrust approval.

Sycamore Partners had planned to convert these stores to Dollar Express stores, but now they will be converted to the Dollar General banner.

The purchase price of the deal has not been disclosed and is subject to approval by the Federal Trade Commission, reports Supermarket News.
