Retail IT show announced for Düsseldorf in 2006

Messe Düsseldorf, the German trade show organizer that produces EuroShop every three years, has announced that EuroCIS 2006, an international trade fair for communications, information and security technology in retail, will be held Feb. 14 – 16, 2006, at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Once a segment within EuroShop, EuroCIS has been held as a separate annual event since 1997. “Because problems and solutions in the field of IT and security technology are constantly evolving and prone to very short innovation cycles, EuroShop’s three-year staging cycle would be inadequate to keep pace with the changing times,” explained Wilhelm Niedergöker, Messe Düsseldorf managing director. “As an annual event, EuroCIS provides a significant response to this dynamic of supply and demand, innovative drive and willingness to invest.”

The organizers said they expect 250 exhibitors and 50,000 trade visitors from over 20 countries to take part. Exhibit categories will include checkout systems, merchandising, supply chain management and logistics, POS technologies, mobile solutions, RFID, business intelligence, CRM, payment systems and cash management, article surveillance, loss prevention, in-store marketing and reverse vending systems.

At the EuroCIS exhibitor forum, exhibitors will give short presentations about the latest projects and trends. At the Retail Innovation Congress, organized by the International Retail Network (EHI) in cooperation with the North Rhine-Westphalian Ministry of Economics and Labor, retail executives will reveal their companies’ innovative concepts, ideas and philosophies. In 2006, for the first time, the Global Retail Technology Forum will be staged in conjunction with EuroCIS.

Messe Düsseldorf's North America office is in Chicago (150 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 2920, (312) 781-5180). E-mail is info@mdna.com; web site is www.mdna.com.
