Federated Updating South Florida Stores

Federated Department Stores (Cincinnati) has tapped Echeverria Design Group (EDG, Coral Gables, Fla.) to implement the department store chain's New Initiatives program at 10 Burdines and three Macy's department stores in South Florida.

EDG will provide interior design and space planning services, as well as new wayfinding signage, for the 13 stores. The design firm has begun surveying each site for areas where New Initiatives programs can be implemented, including the creation of updated fitting-room environments with comfort-oriented sitting areas and CVT (customer verification terminals).

EDG principal Mario Echeverria and Ian Tornquist, director of planning and design, will collaborate with Federated's Steven Bergquist, operational vp for design, and Andrew Brezina, operational vp for planning.

The 10 Burdines stores are located in Miami, Miami Beach, Cutler Ridge, Fort Lauderdale's Galleria, Boca Raton, Coral Square, Pembroke Pines, Plantation, Pompano Beach and Wellington; the three Macy's stores are at The Falls in Miami, City Place in West Palm Beach and Plantation.
