Genesco Announces Promotion; Callison-Designed Complex to Open; Lippincott Mercer Brands New Hyatt Chain

Genesco Inc. (Nashville, Tenn., specialty retailer) has promoted Robert Dennis to executive vp and coo, responsible for the company's licensed brands and its Journeys, Journeys Kidz, Underground Station, Hat World and Johnston & Murphy operating divisions. At Indianapolis-based Hat World, Kenneth Kocher has been named president and Glenn Campbell has been named coo.

W.A.C. Lighting (Garden City, N.Y., designer and manufacturer of track, recessed, undercabinet and monorail lighting) has promoted John Camp to national sales manager and member of the firm's executive committee.

Callison Architecture (Seattle) has hired Stephen Busto as a senior interior designer in its workplace studio, which designs corporate interiors.

Winmar Construction (Washington, D.C.) announces a new member: Jason Wilt, vp, business development.

Callison (Seattle architecture firm) announced that the first phase of Kent Station, a retail/ entertainment/residential development it designed, is opening this fall. The $100 million mixed-use complex, which includes 76,000 square feet of restaurants and retail, is designed to help revitalize Kent, Wash., by providing its downtown with a new focal point and identity.

OptiLED (Irvine, Calif., manufacturer of LEDs) is transitioning its color-changing products to the Traxon USA brand and focusing its operations on expanding its current line of colored, white and warm white lamps

Lippincott Mercer (New York design and brand strategy consultancy) has helped to craft the name, positioning and sensory identity system for Global Hyatt Corp.'s new Hyatt Place chain. Hyatt Place will consist of renovated and rebranded hotels previously operated by AmeriSuites, a 143-unit chain that Global Hyatt acquired in January 2005.

PPG Industries Inc. (Pittsburgh manufacturer of coatings, glass, fiberglass and chemicals) has launched a web site, www.ppgideascapes.com, that provides information on its products for architects and other building professionals.

Square D Services for Schneider Electric (Palatine, Ill., electrical distribution and industrial control products) has revised its web site to provide additional product and service information, along with a revamped structure that allows for easier navigation by users. The web site is at www.squared-services.com.

The Glass Packaging Institute (Alexandria, Va.) has begun selling the third edition of “Glass Packaging Essentials,” a CD offering information on glass-container manufacturing, design, labeling and product marketing.


Awards:

Shaw Contact Group (Dalton, Ga., carpeting firm) has received the North Carolina Sustainability Award in the category of product stewardship for its use of EcoSolution Q yarn and EcoWorx backing.

WHR Architects (Houston and Dallas) announced three of its professionals have received the following honors: senior principal Charles Cadenhead has been named a fellow by the American College of Healthcare Architects; design director Peggy Noakes has been elected to the college of fellows by the International Interior Design Association; and principal Greg Roberts has been named a fellow by the Construction Specifications Institute.
