Fresh & Easy Heading to Northern California

Eight stores will open by early 2011

Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market (El Segundo, Calif.) is expanding to Northern California with eight stores slated to open by early next year. Located in the San Francisco Bay Area and Modesto, the stores will be the retailer’s first locations north of Fresno, Calif.

Fresh & Easy opened its first Southern California location in November 2007. In September, Fresh & Easy will open nine stores in California, including the grocer's 100th store in the state.

“Customers love our stores and we are eager to introduce Northern California to Fresh & Easy and our fresh, wholesome food at affordable prices,” says Tim Mason, Fresh & Easy ceo.

The new northern locations will include: San Francisco, San Jose, Danville, Pacifica, Vacaville, Modesto and Concord. Fresh & Easy operates more than 150 stores in California, Arizona and Nevada. The stores use an average of 30 percent less energy than a typical supermarket, with such design elements as LED lighting in external signs and freezer cases and advanced refrigeration and freezer units.
