Gadzooks Inc. (Carrollton, Texas), the teen apparel retailer that filed for bankruptcy protection earlier this year, has named Carol Greer as its president and chief merchandising officer on a permanent basis. Greer, who also sits on Gadzooks’ board of directors, had been functioning in that position on an interim basis since early February.

During her career, Greer has served as president and ceo of the Specialty Footwear & Apparel division of Woolworth/Venator; as vice chairman, merchandising, for Broadway/Carter Hawley Hale Stores Inc.; and as president and ceo of the Broadway Southwest.

Prior to that, she had spent 19 years with the Atlanta-based Rich’s division of Federated Department Stores.
