Gap Inc. (San Francisco) has named Art Peck, who heads the company’s digital business, as its next ceo. He will replace outgoing ceo Glenn Murphy, who is set to retire in February.

Peck joined Gap in 2005 after more than 20 years at Boston Consulting Group, according to Reuters. Peck also led Gap's North America business, which accounted for more than three-quarters of its revenue in 2011 and 2012. The executive’s digital experience, analysts say, signals the company’s focus on electronic retailing as a vehicle of growth.
