MANAGEMENT CHANGES:

Walmart Stores Inc. (Bentonville, Ark.) announced that former president and ceo David Glass has chosen not to stand for re-election to the company’s board of directors at its annual shareholders’ meeting on June 5.

spg3 (Philadelphia), an architectural firm, announced that in response to the current economic downturn, two of its three founding principals — William Petrauskas and Richard Gelber — will share all management responsibilities, and that Irv Shapiro, the firm’s other original founder, has assumed an advisory role.

STORE OPENINGS

Big Lots (Columbus, Ohio), a closeout retail chain, has reopened its store in Galveston, Texas, which was damaged last fall by Hurricane Ike.

BUSINESS BRIEFS:

InterfaceFLOR LLC (Chapel Hill, N.C.), a manufacturer of modular carpet, has posted the first Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) in North America. The company is registering the declaration in The Green Standard™ EPD System, the first ISO-compliant EPD System in North America.

Pro-Lite Inc. (Costa Mesa, Calif.) announced it has been awarded a U.S. patent for a method and apparatus for simulating the appearance of a neon sign.
