New JCPenney Co. ceo Ron Johnson, who took over at the beginning of November, is making changes again to the department-store chain's management by tapping former Apple Inc. colleagues for his new team, reports The Wall Street Journal.

The retailer is reportedly trying to bring in Michael Kramer, now ceo of Kellwood Co., as chief operating officer. Kramer and Johnson worked together at Apple, where Kramer was the chief financial officer.

The Plano, Texas-based retailer declined to comment on the hiring, according to The Journal.

This fall, Johnson recruited former Target Corp. marketer Michael Francis to become its president. The two worked together at Target.
