Krispy Kreme Opens in Turkey

First of 25 stores planned in country by 2014

Krispy Kreme Doughnut Corp. (Winston-Salem, N.C.) has partnered with franchisee Almana Yiyecek Ve Icecek San. Ve. Tic Ltd, STI, a subsidiary of the Almana Group, to open Turkey’s first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop. The new store is located in the city of Istanbul, on Bagdat Avenue, home to trendy cafes, restaurants and clothing stores.

“Our Turkish customers are excited and have been waiting a long time for the opening of Krispy Kreme's first store in Istanbul,” says Bader Almana, a board member of the Almana Group. “We are very pleased at the reception we have received and believe Krispy Kreme will quickly become a new taste trend that the Turkish people will love.”

Krispy Kreme offers its glazed doughnut treats in 18 countries, including the U.S., Australia, Bahrain, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the U.K. The company is also working on a franchise development agreement for China.

Almana Yiyecek Ve Icecek San. Ve. Tic, Ltd, STI, the Turkish subsidiary of the Almana Group, also operates KFC and Pizza Hut restaurants in Turkey.
