New York retailer’s Fifth Avenue windows celebrate the Georgia Aquarium

Lord & Taylor LLC (New York) has announced “Lord and Taylor Makes Waves,” the Fifth Avenue store's summer 2007 windows campaign that will celebrate the Georgia Aquarium.

The new aquarium in Atlanta is the world's largest, made up by five distinct galleries depicting five different habitats, ranging from Arctic to Tropical. These five galleries feature more than 100,000 animals of 500 different species in more than 8 million gallons of water. Lord & Taylor shot photography for its current catalogues at the aquarium earlier this year.

A selection of Lord & Taylor's swimsuits, sportswear and dresses will be showcased among footage of the deep-sea life that populates the aquarium's vast galleries until May 4, 2007. Myriad marine species will be displayed in a seamless video wall, while high in the arch above the main doors, a giant LED screen will show images captured at the aquarium. In addition, Bluworld's “WaterWall” will create a mysterious underwater effect on the windows flanking the Fifth Avenue entrance to the store.

“We are delighted to bring the experience of the Georgia Aquarium to New York,” said LaVelle Olexa, Lord & Taylor's senior vp, advertising, sales promotion and public relations. “For a few weeks, New Yorkers and visitors alike will be able to encounter the same stunning images of marine life in that magnificent aquarium on our block on Fifth Avenue. And Lord & Taylor salutes [Bernard] Marcus for his remarkable vision and his extraordinary generosity.” Marcus, the founder of Home Depot, donated $250 of the $290 million needed to build the aquarium.
