Company reports 71 percent increase in profit for 1Q

Athletic apparel retailer Lululemon Athletica Inc. is opening its first Memphis, Tenn., location. The Vancouver, B.C.-based company has signed a 1000-square-foot lease at 5007 Black Road, in East Memphis, in a former Tate Jewelers space, reports the Memphis Business Journal.

Lululemon operates 45 stores in Canada and 75 in the U.S. The yoga-inspired apparel retailer reported a 71 percent increase in its first-quarter profit. Net income rose to $33.5 million, with same-store sales up 16 percent.
