Says he was “sick to my stomach” that she was allying herself with JC Penney

Macy's ceo Terry Lundgren testified that he was “literally sick to my stomach” when Martha Stewart told him she’d be selling her brand in JC Penney stores.

New York State Court is currently holding hearings on two lawsuits brought by Macy’s Inc. (Cincinnati) against Martha Stewart Omnimedia (New York) and against JC Penney Co. Inc. (Plano, Texas).

In December 2011, Penney announced it would launch Martha Stewart departments in about 700 of its stores in 2013, and it also bought 17 percent of Stewart’s company. Macy’s charging that breached an exclusive deal it had with Stewart to carry her branded merchandise in certain categories.

Lundgren testified that Stewart told him of the Penney’s deal the night before it was announced publicly, and that he hung up and hasn’t spoken to her since.
