Madewell, the more casual division of J. Crew (New York), has opened a 6500-square-foot, two-level flagship in a landmarked site in New York. Located in Manhattan’s Flatiron neighborhood, the store is the largest location in the 22-unit chain, reports to Women’s Wear Daily.

The building features 19-foot arched windows and Corinthian columns from the original 1869 building that housed the former Arnold Constable department store. Madewell has introduced some new merchandising concepts at the Flatiron location, including a 300-square-foot shoe shop in the rear of the store; a wider selection of home goods; and a “hometown heroes” pop-up shop on the 2000-square-foot mezzanine selling items from some of the staff’s favorite stores around town.

J. Crew introduced the Madewell concept in 2007.
