McDonald's Corp. (Oak Brook, Ill.) announced global comparable sales growth of 3.3 percent in May. Broken down by segment, sales grew 4.4 percent in the U.S. and 2.9 percent in Europe, while declining 1.7 percent in Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa.

“Our commitment to providing customers with menu variety, value and convenience delivered global comparable sales growth in May despite the increasingly challenging global economic environment,” says ceo Jim Skinner. “I am confident we will continue to deliver long-term sustainable growth as we remain focused on the opportunities that will enable us to further extend our relevance.”
